“Give Golf A Go” I + II – Golf Program for Beginners
Box Hill Golf Club runs beginner women’s golf programs twice a year for anyone interested in learning how to play golf. We understand that golf can be quite intimidating for a beginner golfer, that’s why we have devised a program which can take you all the way from complete beginner to a confident golfer. These beginner clinics are a great way to meet new golfing friends while in a fun atmosphere.
Women beginners are expected to progress through the following phases:
1 – “Give Golf A Go” I: Beginners golf program of five sessions at nominal cost (currently $100) to learn basic skills of putting, chipping, pitching and full swing. All equipment is provided for free and refreshments are included after each session.
2 – “Give Golf A Go” II: A five weeks beginners golf program continuing from the foundations of “GGAG I” where the fundamentals of the game are coached. All equipment is provided for free but players are suggested to practise between sessions and so they may need a starter club of their own. A discounted fitted club can be purchased when signing up.
3 – Bronze Level Membership: A beginner’s golf membership for 4 months that includes 4 group lessons of one hour (4 people). The focus will be on recapping the basics to allow for better practice as well as an introduction to playing on the course, focusing initially on safety and etiquette. Additionally, you can enjoy 3 individual lessons to be used as required and full access to the practice facilities. As a Bronze Member, you will only be allowed on the course to play with full members or within lesson time.
4 – Silver Level Membership: A golf membership for 4 months that includes 4 group lessons of one hour (4 people). These sessions will be more skills-based but with emphasis on the higher techniques required to hit more consistent shots and learning to play more out on the course. Additionally, you can enjoy 3 individual lessons to use as required, full access to the practice facilities and Silver Members will be allowed access to the course during quiet times.
5 – Gold Level Membership: A continuation of the previous golf memberships for 4 months with 4 group lessons of one hour (4 people). These will be aimed at improving the players understanding of how to transfer the skills learnt up to this point out into the playing environment. You can enjoy 3 individual lessons to use as required, full access to the practice facilities, and in addition Gold Members will be allowed to play on the course during quiet times with the opportunity to acquire a handicap.
Anyone who completes the above series will be invited to join as a “Gold Plus” member for 12 months to provide a little more time to gain in confidence before transitioning to one of the many full membership options available. Should they do so, they will not be required to pay the joining fee (currently $2,000) to join the club.
Options for Men
Male beginners are eligible to apply for a similar membership pathway once they have completed sufficient private lessons to understand the basics. As there are no group lessons for men as yet, they will be eligible to have 5 individual lessons in every 4 month membership instead of the split between group and private.
