Penfold Motors Box Hill Golf Club Pro-Am 2007
Penfold Motors Pro-Am 2007
In a huge compliment to Mark Jennings and his staff a huge % of Golf Professionals rated Box Hill Golf Coourse in better condition than any other course in Victoria during the 2007 Penfold Motors Pro-Am.
In fact our winner, Michael Curtain was quite explicit in his rating Box Hill in better condition than Huntingdale where the Masters was played the following week and Huntingdale of course is on the sandbelt. Those who followed Michael's fortunes during the four majors would have noted he made the cut in every one of them and finished the season mid twenties on the Australian OOM. A number of other players who competed in our Penfold Motors Pro-Am performed very credibly in the majors with some ahieving scores better than they could muster at Box Hill.
So to Mark, his staff, all the hardworking volunteers and indeed all staff associated with our Pro-Am, a huge thankyou. Your efforts are certainly bringing more credit and awareness to our Golf Club and that is one of the key objectives of conducting the Pro-Am.
Other highlights were the three scores of 63, all course records on the Par 70 layout for the Pro-Am. these scores were achieved by Michael Curtain, Michael Light and Andy Rogers. A number of course records are achieved in Pro-Ams around the state and a recent example was John Wade who has played in many Australian Opens and Australian Masters shot a 9 under 64 at Keysborough. John shot even par over the 2 days at Box Hill.
We must also give huge thanks to Ray Kennedy who spent countless hours taking some high quality photos, a collection of these can be viewed in the Gallery section of this website.
